Round Toe or Pointed Toe Shoes - Which Do You Prefer?

 What's Your Shoe Style?

I like round-toed shoes. My parents inherited wide feet, so my feet don’t do well in narrow shoes. My toes need room to move! While pointed-toe shoes are cute and trendy, they’re not for every woman. I, for one, don’t like to mash my feet into shoes and limp around all day. That is not cool!

I do own a few pairs of pointed-toe shoes. They’re flat shoes and a size 10. I do better with flatter shoes than heeled shoes. However, I have plantar fascitis, and my doctor told me to wear heels. Sure! I love a good chunky heel. I used to wear a lot of high heels during my clubbing days. I could wear those shoes for hours. Not anymore. I need chunky, thick heels.

There was a post on Instagram about round-toed shoes being “dated.” I don't see it this way. Many trendy shoes are round-toed. For example, motorcycle boots, Doc Martens, and rain boots are generally round-toed. They even look better round-toed versus pointed-toed. So, the fact that some fashion influencers consider round-toed shoes “dated” doesn’t sit well with me.

Pointed-toed shoes can be beautiful. They come in a variety of styles — from flats to thigh-high boots. But their beauty has a downside — pointed-toe shoes aren’t designed for all-day wear (unless they’re flat shoes). After two or three hours, you’re ready to take those shoes off. That’s why pointed-toe shoes are perfect for parties or clubs; after two or three hours, you know it’s time to leave when your feet hurt.

Conversely, if you’re wearing a round-toe shoe with a chunky heel, you're all set for the night. Those shoes are built for comfort and durability. On the way to the club, your feet will be cushioned against the hard tile floors or the uneven sidewalks. They do have a downside — round-toe shoes are heavier than pointed-toe shoes. So you will get tired faster wearing round-toe shoes. Be sure to pace yourself when you’re at the party!

Shoe styles are like clothing styles—they depend on how you wear them. The type of shoe can elevate an outfit. Round-toe shoes look better with certain outfits, like oversized sweaters and straight-leg jeans. Pointed-toe shoes look better with certain outfits, like gowns and prom dresses. But these shoes can be switched with outfits depending on your style and personality.

That’s an article for next time! Ciao!
