Don't Tell Me How To Dress
The Fashion Police needs to be fired! Shut down the office. Close-up shop! Be gone from society! They’ve been in business for far too long. Women have been paying them too much attention, which needs to stop.
What bothers me the most is that the Fashion Police have gained many recruits since the rise of social media. From Facebook to YouTube, many creators have at least one reel or video discussing what women should and shouldn’t wear, especially if they are over 40.
What’s the big deal? I’ve seen women in their 60s wearing two-piece bathing suits, and they look great. I’ve seen 50-something women wearing short shorts with legs for days. I’ve seen women in their 40s wearing crop tops and mini skirts and looking fabulous. I say, if you got the body for it — wear it! And even if your body isn’t fit and toned (another issue I have with society), so what? It’s your body, and you decide how to dress it.
It’s sad when people stick their noses into someone else’s closet. Get out of there! Fashion isn’t about age. It’s about personality. It’s about style. I wear what I want because I know what I like. I don’t like everything on the runway or in the stores. I don’t shop at every store. I know what works for my body and what makes me feel cute and comfy.
But many Fashion Police officers get clicks and views when criticizing older women. It is trendy online, from how older women behave in public to how they should dress. The critics get thousands of likes and profit from disrespecting older women and their wardrobes. It’s disgusting!
My mother used to tell me when I was a child, “Stay out of grown folks' business.” If you have never heard of that saying, let me explain it to you. It means “Mind your business” or “No one asked for your opinion.” No one likes to be criticized, especially about their appearance. If how someone looks affects how you function daily, I suggest you make an appointment with a therapist.
So ladies over 40, wear what you want. Dress for yourself. Don’t dress for other people. Don’t conform to society’s twisted standards. The Fashion Police needs to take several seats. They’re not needed nor wanted as women continue to grow and find their place in the 21st century.
